Your money data never meets a middleman.

NotifSync for YNAB ("NotifSync", "the app", "we") is an independent Android companion app for YNAB. This policy explains, plainly, what data the app touches, where it stays, and the control you have over it. The short version: your notifications are parsed on your device, and there is no NotifSync server to send them to. Your notification and transaction data goes exactly two places: your phone, and your own YNAB account.
1. Why the app uses your data
NotifSync exists to save you from typing transactions into YNAB by hand. It is built for the common case where your bank can't connect to YNAB directly — leaving you to export CSV files or enter every transaction manually. NotifSync gives you an easier, automatic alternative.
To do that it reads the transaction notifications your banking apps already post, extracts the amount, payee and date using patterns you create, and — only when you choose to — sends the resulting transaction to your own YNAB account.
NotifSync is a paid app, and the purchase is handled by Google Play. That means the app also needs to know whether it has been unlocked. Beyond these two things, we do not use your data for advertising, profiling, analytics, or any other purpose.
2. What data is involved, and how it is handled, stored, secured and kept
- Notification content. When you grant notification access, NotifSync reads the text of incoming notifications so your patterns can match them. This reading and parsing happens entirely on your device. Notification text is not transmitted off the device.
- Parsed transactions & patterns. Matched transactions and the patterns you create are stored in a local database on your phone, within the app's private storage. They remain on the device until you delete them or uninstall the app.
- Your YNAB credentials. The token used to talk to YNAB is stored in the app's private local storage on your device and is used solely to call the YNAB API on your behalf. It is never sent anywhere else.
- Your purchase. Unlocking the app is a Google Play purchase. Google Play records it against your Google account, and NotifSync asks Google Play whether a purchase exists. The app keeps only that yes-or-no answer on your device. NotifSync never sees your payment details and never stores them.
- Retention. Your notifications, transactions and patterns live only on your device. There is no server-side copy and no fixed retention period imposed by us. They persist for exactly as long as you keep them, and clearing them in the app or uninstalling removes them. The record of your purchase is the one exception: it is held by Google Play under your Google account, so it survives uninstalling and is not ours to delete.
3. We do not sell or share your data
NotifSync has no backend servers, no analytics, and no user accounts. Nothing you do in the app is reported to us, because there is nowhere for it to be reported to.
Two outside services are involved, and here is exactly what each one gets. The first is YNAB. When you choose to sync a transaction, NotifSync sends it directly to the YNAB API and into your own YNAB account. Nothing else is sent, and nothing is sent unless you ask for it. Your use of YNAB is governed by YNAB's own privacy policy.
The second is Google Play. NotifSync is a paid app, and Google Play handles the purchase and tells the app whether it has been unlocked. That exchange carries no notification content, no transaction data, and no YNAB information. Your payment is between you and Google, and Google's handling of it is governed by Google's privacy policy.
Beyond those two, nothing. Your data is never knowingly or unknowingly passed to another third party, sold, or shared.
4. Deleting your data
You are always in control of what NotifSync stores:
- You can delete individual transactions and patterns within the app at any time.
- The app provides an in-app option to erase the data it has stored on your device.
- Uninstalling the app removes all of its local data.
- Your purchase record sits with Google Play under your Google account, so it is managed there rather than in NotifSync.
If you would like to request deletion of any data or have questions about this policy, contact us at privacy@notifsync.com. Because your data is stored only on your device, in most cases we hold nothing to delete on our side; even so, we commit to responding to and complying with any verified deletion request.
5. Changes to this policy
